New Entry Sustainable Farming Project

at Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy

New Entry, an initiative of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, works locally, regionally, and across the country to strengthen local food systems by supporting new farmers. They serve and collaborate with the people, communities, and organizations in Massachusetts, the Northeast, and beyond!

New Entry has offered a 10% discount to NAFSN members who enroll in their Crop Production Course and/or Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture courses this Spring 2024.

Crop Production Course 4.30.24 // 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Registrations are now open for this 9-week online course covering essential topics related to sustainable crop production, enabling participants to grow food while caring for the soil at the farm or in the garden.

Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture. 6.3.24 // 8:00am to 8.16.24 // 5:00pm. Participants will gain hands-on experience in sustainable farming practices. This hands-on course will cover soil health, greenhouse management, plant health, disease management and much more! This practicum isn't just about planting seeds – it's about planting the seeds of your future!

Does having signage that my farm accepts credit cards really matter? Matt LeRoux has done the research and has the answers. Join this workshop to hear him share how your point-of-sale system can increase your farms sales and hear from Becca Rimmell of Bottomland Farm on how she uses her Square sales data to make decisions on her farm.

Harvesting Resilience: A Farmer Learning Circle on Season Extension, Growing Under Cover, and Climate-Resilient Farming. 3.21.24 // 2:00pm to 4:00pm. 

Rijk Gupta is committed to growing veg and flowers year-round on his farm. This is an "in-person" event. Join New Entry as they tour his high tunnels and greenhouses to learn about his challenges and successes. From securing funding to enhance & expand his infrastructure to harvesting blooms in the winter, he has a lot to share!
